The Lake Forest College men's hockey team earned a much-needed victory over Concordia University Wisconsin Saturday night, defeating the Falcons 4-3.
The Foresters fell behind on three separate occasions, the first when the visitors broke the scoreless tie mid-way through the second period. It was the first of four goals in the period and was followed by Lake Forest freshman forward
Jax Schauer's second of the season at the 11:22 mark. Schauer was assisted by junior forward
Logan Kittleson and sophomore defenseman
Jared Kaplowitz.
Concordia Wisconsin regained the lead just 73 seconds later and led until Trevor Schauer, another Forester freshman forward, tied the game again with 2:19 to play in the period. Junior forward
Philip Quetell assisted on the score.
The Falcons pulled ahead one final time less than four minutes into the third period and appeared destined for a series sweep until senior forward
Tyler Buonopane evened the score once again. His second goal of the year was set up by fifth-year defenseman
Connor Scahill.
The game winner came from freshman forward Jonathon Mead with 5:08 on the clock. He was there to put in the rebound off a shot from senior defenseman
Matteas Derraugh and put the Foresters on top for good. Quetell was also credited with an assist on Mead's second of the season.
Ten of Forester senior goaltender
Bobby McCloskey's 23 saves on the night came in the third period and he improved to 2-1-0 on the year.
