The Forester volleyball team closed out its Midwest Conference scheduled with a three-set loss at Grinnell College on Saturday.

Lake Forest was led on the defensive side by seniors Juli Barrientos and Riley Stapley, who finished the contest with a dozen digs and three blocks, respectively.

Fellow Forester senior Rebekkah De Kok finished with a team-high seven kills and sophomore Meghan Winston paced the squad with 17 assists.

Grinnell never trailed in the opening set and used an 11-3 run in the middle of it to pull away and eventually take it 25-12. Both teams had three-point leads but none larger in set two. The score was tied nine times, the last at 20, before the Pioneers on five of the last seven points. After back-to-back points by Lake Forest to begin set three, Grinnell took 16 of the next 19 and continued to pull away and matched the final score from the opening set.

Lake Forest fell to 4-20 overall and finished the conference portion of its 2024 schedule 3-5. Grinnell, meanwhile, improved to 19-8 and 6-0 in the league.

The Foresters will close out the season with three non-conference matches next weekend. After hosting Wheaton College Saturday morning at 10:00 and Loras College at 2:00 in the afternoon, they will travel to the University of Chicago on Sunday for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
