The Lake Forest College women's tennis team is in Madison, Wisconsin, this weekend for the Midwest Conference Individual Tournament and members of the team went undefeated on day one of the event.
Saturday's play included the first two rounds of the six singles tournaments and the opening round in each of the three doubles brackets.
Sophomore
Sofia Strupovets and freshman
Lilli Dockal were the top seeds at #1 and #2 singles, respectively, and had a bye in the quarterfinal round. Strupovets did not drop a game while Dockal won 6-1, 6-0 in the semifinals. The duo also had an opening round bye at #1 doubles.
Playing at #3 singles and #2 doubles, fifth-year Maragaret Bugnacki moved up a few spots in the Forester record book on Saturday. After taking both sets 6-0 in the singles quarterfinals, prevailing 6-4, 6-1 in the semifinals, and partnering with sophomore
Kate Feist on an 8-0 doubles win, she ranks third in program history with 136 career victories in singles and doubles combined.
Feist also won twice in singles, advancing to the final at #4 by defeating opponents 6-2, 6-2 in the quarterfinals and 6-1, 6-2 in the semifinals.
Sophomore
Anika Kinnear had the Foresters' most difficult path through Saturday's competition. Seeded third at #5 singles, she opened with a 6-4, 6-3 triumph before defeating the #2 seed 6-7, 6-3, 6-2 in the semifinal round. She also won 6-3 with senior
Emily Bross at #3 doubles.
Sophomore
Olivia Pandazi is Lake Forest's #6 singles players and joined her teammates in the finals by coming out on top 6-1, 6-0 in her first match and 6-2, 6-4 in the second.
All six Forester singles players will take on their counterparts from Grinnell College in the finals on Sunday. Strupovets and Dockal will also face the top tandem from Monmouth in the #1 doubles semifinals while Bugnacki and Feist go up against the #3 team from Illinois College and Kinnear and Bross play the #3 duo from Cornell College.
