The Forester women's soccer team posted a 7-0 shutout of Monmouth College at home on Saturday.
Lake Forest scored five goals before halftime, including three on corner kicks from the left side by senior
Theresa Presberg. Junior
Anna Gracia headed in the first of them at the 18:42 mark and the next two came from fellow junior
Anna Hoffman at 26:59 and 31:54. Gracia has scored four times in the last three games and has six on the season while Hoffman took is not the team leader in that category with 10.
Senior
Lauren Covarrubias scored 10 minutes later on a blast into the upper-right corner of the net from 35 yards out and the fifth and final tally of the first half came from freshman
Maggie Balas with 4:54 on the clock. Her shot passed over the raised arms of the keeper and caromed down off the crossbar and landed just past the goal line. Covarrubias now has two goals this fall and Balas five.
After out-shooting the Fighting Scots 24-1 in the first half, the Foresters had a 9-1 edge in that category in the final 45 minutes.
The home team added to its lead at the 54:26 mark on the third goal of the year by freshman
Annabelle Schroeder. She was at the far post to kick in a cross from the left side of the field by Presberg, who became just the fourth player in program history with four or more assists in a game.
The final score of the day was the first in the career of freshman
Isabella Rivera, who kicked in a corner kick from Balas with 21:26 to play.
While the Foresters were setting a season-high for goals, senior
Franca Finch and junior
Joanna Aslanides kept a clean sheet. Finch started and made one save before giving way to Aslanides, who continued to keep the Fighting Scots off the scoreboard for the final 15:38. They secured the team's sixth shutout in the last seven games and eighth this year.
Lake Forest improved to 9-2-3 overall this season and 4-0-1 in Midwest Conference play. Meanwhile, Monmouth fell to 3-8-3 overall and 1-3-1 in the league.
The Foresters will travel to Beloit College on Tuesday for a 4:00 p.m. kickoff.
