The Lake Forest College women's basketball team defeated visiting Mount Mary University 71-45 Wednesday night.
The Foresters scored the game's first 11 points and maintained a convincing lead throughout. They led 21-8 after the first quarter and 37-15 at halftime. The margin was 27 points at 59-32 after three quarters and grew to as many as 29 in the fourth.
A dozen Foresters scored in the contest and the home team was led by sophomore guard
Taylor Major, who shot 6-for-8 from the field in a 13-point performance. Junior guard
Rebecca Christodoulou was next with 12 points and she tied for the team lead with five assists. Senior guard
Maurissa Edwards finished with nine points, matched Christodoulou's assist total, and joined Major with a team-high six rebounds.
After shooting a season-high 48.1 percent from the field in Saturday's victory over Lawrence, Lake Forest was slightly better at 48.3 percent on Wednesday. The home team also limited Mount Mary to just 29.1 percent shooting and had a commanding 50-21 edge in rebounds.
The Foresters' third consecutive victory raised their overall record this season to 5-15 while Mount Mary fell to 9-10.
Lake Forest will resume Midwest Conference play against Grinnell College at home on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
