The Lake Forest College women's basketball team suffered a 72-50 loss at Beloit College Wednesday night.
Sophomore forward
Chrystiana Pagonis led the Foresters with a career-high 13 points while senior guard
Maurissa Edwards added 11. They each connected three times from three-point range. Senior guard
Melissa Gomez and junior center
Peyton Noles combined for 14 points and shared team-high honors with six rebounds apiece.
The Foresters shot just 28.1 percent from the field while the Buccaneers knocked down 49 percent of their field goal attempts. Beloit outscored Lake Forest 18-8 from the foul line and had a 47-36 edge on the boards. The teams combined for 28 steals.
It was a one-point game before the home team scored the final four points of the first quarter and the first eight of the second. The margin was 14 points at halftime and after three quarters before growing to as many as 23 in the fourth.
Lake Forest is now 2-14 overall and 1-7 in Midwest Conference play. Beloit improved to 6-11 overall and 4-5 in the league.
The Foresters will travel to Knox College on Saturday for a 4:00 p.m. tip-off.
