Despite a career-high 31 points from junior guard
Rebecca Christodoulou, the Forester women's basketball team was defeated 79-67 at Knox College on Saturday.
Christodoulou shot 13-for-19 from the field, connected on three of four attempts from three-point range, and added seven rebounds in the contest.
Sophomore forward
Chrystiana Pagonis also made three shot from beyond the arc and was next on the team with a dozen points. Junior forward
Emmy Punches finished with 10 points and led all players with 12 rebounds for her first collegiate double-double. She also matched freshman guard Caereah Baitlon with six assists to share game-high honors in that category as well.
Lake Forest shot 44.3 percent from the floor while Knox was only slightly better at 46.3. The Foresters had a 42-34 edge in rebounds but committed 31 turnovers to the Prairire Fire's 20.
The home team led 21-16 after the first quarter and 37-30 at halftime. The margin grew to 19 points in the third but was back down to 11 at 60-49 when the period ended. Five straight points from Christodoulou made it a five-point game early in the fourth but Lake Forest got no closer. The Knox lead returned to double figures with four minutes to play and remained there the rest of the game.
The Foresters fell to 2-15 overall and 1-8 in Midwest Conference play this season. Knox, meanwhile, is now 13-4 overall and 5-3 in the league.
Lake Forest will travel to Monmouth College on Tuesday with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
