The Lake Forest College women's basketball team posted a 76-58 victory at Monmouth College Tuesday night.
Senior guard
Maurissa Edwards shot 9-for-17 from the field and scored a game-high 25 points in the contest.
Junior forward
Emmy Punches was next on the team with 17 points, all of which were scored after halftime. She was 6-for-8 from the field and added seven rebounds and four assists. Senior guard
Melissa Gomez finished with 15 points and also had an efficient shooting night at 6-for-11.
After scoring a career-best 31 points at Knox College on Saturday, junior guard
Rebecca Christodoulou grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds on Tuesday. She also scored 11 points for her first double-double as a Forester.
Lake Forest shot 42.4 percent from the floor while the Fighting Scots connected on exactly one-third of their field goal attempts. Monmouth had a 35-31 edge in rebounds but committed 15 turnovers while the Foresters had a season-low 10.
The home team led 17-11 after the first quarter and 29-28 at halftime. The Foresters pulled away in the third, outscoring the Scots 32-17 and matching the third-highest point total in any quarter in team history. They shot 12-for-16 from the field and made both three-point field goal attempts and all six free throws in the period.
Monmouth closed to within nine points in the final quarter but Lake Forest secured the victory with a 12-3 run to close out the game.
The Foresters' second win in as many meetings with Monmouth this season raised the team's overall record to 3-15 and Midwest Conference mark to 2-8. Monmouth fell to 2-17 overall and 0-10 in the league.
Lake Forest will host Lawrence University on Saturday with tip-off scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
