The Forester women's basketball team was defeated 81-48 by Ripon College at home Wednesday night.
The Red Hawks shot 53.7 percent from the field and made half of their 10 attempts from three-point range. Lake Forest connected on a solid 42.1 percent of field goal attempts but were out-rebounded 28-22 and committed 28 turnovers while forcing just 13.
Sophomore guard
Taylor Major led the home team with 15 points. She shot 4-for-5 from the field, made her only shot from beyond the arc, and knocked down six of eight free throws.
Sophomore forward
Rylie Crecelius was next on the team with a career-high eight points and was 3-for-5 from the field.
The Foresters scored the first point of the night but Ripon accounted for 12 of the next 14 and led 17-8 after the first quarter. The visitors shot 64 percent from the field in the second and were ahead 41-19 at halftime. They nearly matched that shooting percentage in the third quarter and continued to pull away in the fourth.
Lake Forest is now 2-12 overall and 1-5 in Midwest Conference play. Ripon improved to 9-6 overall and remains perfect in the league after six games.
The Foresters will host Illinois College on Saturday with tip-off scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
