Box Score 2 The Lake Forest College volleyball team dropped three-set decisions to Dominican University and the University of Dubuque at home on Saturday.
Senior
Grace Franz led the Foresters with nine kills in each contest. She also led the squad with nine digs against Dominican and added 13 more against Dubuque.
Sophomore
Julia Turskey and junior
Juli Barrientos also reached double figures in digs in the second match with 14 and 11, respectively, while sophomore setter
Lilly Robinson finished the day with 25 assists.
The first set of the day was the closest. An ace by Barrientos pulled the Foresters to within one at 23-22 but Dominican won the next two points to take it. Lake Forest trailed by just three at 15-12 in set two before the Stars finished it off with a 10-3 run. The visitors closed out the third set by taking six of the last seven points to win it 25-18.\
After defeating Dominican in five sets, Dubuque rattled off six straight points to break a 13-13 tie with the Foresters in set one. A Turskey ace made the score 23-19 but the Spartans won the next two points and the set. They also accounted for the first four points of the second set and led by as many as 10 on four separate occasions, including the end. The final set was tied at 11 before the visitors pulled away and took it 25-16.
Lake Forest is now 6-4, Dominican 6-6, and Dubuque 10-5 on the season.
The Foresters will be in action against at Rockford University Tuesday night at 7:00.
