The Lake Forest College women's tennis team rolled 8-1 over Edgewood College Saturday morning before edging out host Wheaton College 5-4 in the afternoon.
Freshmen
Sofia Strupovets,
Kristen Ahn, and
Kate Feist were undefeated on the day. Strupovets teamed up with senior
Margaret Bugnacki at the top spot in the doubles lineup, where they prevailed 8-6 against Edgewood and 8-3 over the Thunder. Ahn and Feist defeated Edgewood's #3 doubles team 8-1 and Wheaton's 8-2.
Strupovets added a 6-2, 6-1 triumph atop the lineup in the first match of the day and came out on top 7-5, 6-2 at #2 against Wheaton. Ahn routed Edgewood's #3 player 6-0, 6-1 and took both sets 6-2 at #4 against Wheaton. Playing at #5, Feist's perfect day included a 6-4, 6-2 victory against the Eagles and the same set scores in reverse order over her counterpart from Wheaton.
Junior
Sara Lopez and sophomore
Rebecca Daskal chipped in with an 8-3 win at #2 doubles and Daskal also posted a 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 victory at #5 singles in the morning match.
Lake Forest is now 3-1 on the young season and will play at home for the first time in 2023-24 on Wednesday. Milwaukee School of Engineering will be the Foresters' opponent at 4:00 p.m.
