Within the first 13 minutes of Wednesday's game, the Lake Forest women's soccer team was already leading visiting Elmhurst University 2-0. The Foresters would keep the lead for the whole game and win with a score of 4-1.
Sophomore
Anna Hoffman got Lake Forest on the board with her second goal of the season with a beautiful, arched shot into the net after sophomore
Caitlin Mulcahy was able to clear down the field to senior
Ella Manthey who made the pass to Hoffman.
Mulcahy added her own goal to the Forester tally a little less than four minutes later. Manthey again was there to assist when she kicked the ball from right side of the field directly in front of the goal, where Mulcahy was waiting to put it in.
The Foresters would score two more times, all within the first half. SophomoresÂ
Izzy DeStefano andÂ
Lauren Covarrubias had a goal apiece; Manthey got her third assist of the game by aiding DeStefano and
Ella Chicone also earned an assist.
Elmhurst's lone goal came from a penalty kick with a minute and a half remaining in the first half. There were no goals for either team in the last 45 minutes of play.
The Foresters take to the field again on Friday against St. Mary's College at 4:30 p.m.
