The Forester men's soccer team defeated visiting Elmhurst College 2-1 on Sunday.
Lake Forest jumped out the early lead just five minutes into the contest on sophomore
Karl Weisenfeld's first goal of the season. He stole the ball 30 yards out, dribbled to the top of the box, and fired a shot into the left side of the goal.
Both teams converted a penalty kick opportunity in the first half, beginning with Forester sophomore
Ifet Mrkalj at the 30:08 mark. The Bluejays answered with one of their own less than five minutes later to make the score 2-1.
The Foresters outshot their guests 6-5 in the first half but were doubled up 6-3 in that category during the final 45 minutes. Lake Forest sophomore goalkeeper
Dennis Turdean made four saves and members of the defense came up with two more to preserve the lead.
Lake Forest is now 1-4-0 and Elmhurst 1-3-1 on the year.
The Foresters will host Carthage College Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 on Mohr Field.
