The Lake Forest College women's tennis team began the 2023-24 season with a 7-2 loss at North Central College and an 8-1 triumph over Millikin University on Saturday.

Sofia Strupovets and
Kristen Ahn earned victories in their first collegiate singles matches. Strupovets edged out North Central's #2 player 6-4, 5-7, (10-8) while Ahn came out on top 6-0, 7-5 at #3.

Kate Feist prevailed 8-2 against Millikin at #2 doubles and, with the Big Blue fielding a lineup of just five players, Lake Forest also won the point at #3.
The Foresters posted victories at all five spots in the singles lineup, beginning with Feist blanking his counterpart 6-0 in both sets at #5. Strupovets was nearly as dominant at #2, rolling 6-0, 6-1 to clinch the team win. Ahn won 6-3, 6-1 at #3 and sophomore
Rebecca Daskal defeated Millikin's #4 player 7-5, 6-2. The closest of the contests was at #1, where Lake Forest senior
Margaret Bugnacki dropped the first set 6-4 before taking the second set tiebreaker 8-6 and third set super tiebreaker 10-6.
The Foresters will take their 1-1 record to Wheaton College next Saturday, where they will take on Edgewood College at 9:30 a.m. and the home team at 2:00 in the afternoon.
