Tough Second Half for Foresters at Platteville

The Lake Forest College women's basketball team was defeated 87-50 at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Wednesday night.

The game started well for the Foresters, who shot 6-for-9 from the field in the first quarter and led 13-12 after 10 minutes of play. The visitors also made the first basket of the second quarter but Platteville scored the game's next 13 points and took a 30-24 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Pioneers pulled away in the third, outscoring the Foresters 31-11 in the period. The margin reached as many as 40 points in the fourth.

Junior guard Rebecca Christodoulou led Lake Forest with 14 points and five rebounds. She shot 6-for-9 from the field on the evening. Junior forward Emmy Punches was next on the team with nine points.

The Foresters shot 36.2 percent from the field and connected on just five of 21 attempts from three-point range. The home team was far more efficient, knocking down exactly half of its field goal attempts, including 11 of 23 from beyond the arc. The Pioneers also had a 45-31 edge in rounds and committed just a dozen turnovers while forcing 22.

Lake Forest is now 1-8 and Platteville 5-2 this season.

The Foresters' final two games of 2023 will be played at DePauw University's Amy Hasbrook Memorial Tournament December 29-30. Lake Forest will take on Franklin College in the semifinals.
