The Forester women's basketball team was defeated 68-52 by visiting Marian University on Saturday.
Senior guards
Maurissa Edwards and
Melissa Gomez led the home team with 13 and 11 points, respectively. Edwards also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and dished out three assists.Â

Chrystiana Pagonis were next on the team with eight points apiece.
Neither team shot well from the field with Marian at 34.4 percent and Lake Forest at 32.7. The Sabres outscored the Foresters 27-12 on three-pointers and had a slight 39-36 advantage in rebounds. The visitors also forced 22 turnovers while committing just 15.
Lake Forest led 18-11 with six minutes to play in the second quarter. Marian then rattled off 10 straight points to pull ahead and the Sabres took a 24-20 lead into the locker room at halftime.
The Foresters closed to within a point in the third quarter but trailed 41-34 when it ended. The margin was 12 a minute into the fourth but Lake Forest pulled back to within four at 53-49 with four minutes to play. The home team did not score again until the final 30 second of the contest and Marian's 15 consecutive points put the game well out of reach.
Both teams had entered the game 0-3 on the young season.
Lake Forest will travel to Milwaukee School of Engineering on Tuesday for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
