The Lake Forest College men's hockey team was defeated 3-2 in overtime by Trine University on Saturday.
The winning goal came with 40 seconds to play in the 5-minute extra period.
The visitors also scored the first two goals of the game but had their lead cut in half when Forester junior defenseman
Ryan Antonakis netted the game's only power play goal with 1:46 to play in the opening period. The first career goal for Antonakis was assisted by sophomore forward
Logan Kittleson and junior forward
Griffen Sanom.
The score remained 2-1 until the 2:23 mark of the third period when Sanom struck to tie the game. Sophomore guard
Chase Freiermuth blocked a pass that would have enabled the Thunder to clear their defensive zone. The puck caromed off the boards to Sanom, whose shot was slowed but not saved by the Thunder goaltender..
The Foresters were out-shot 33-21 on the night but junior goaltender
Bobby McCloskey made 30 saves, including 13 during a scoreless second period.
