The Forester men's hockey team fell behind in the opening period but scored six times in the second in Friday night's 6-3 triumph over visiting Lawrence University.
The scoring outburst began with a power play goal by junior defenseman
Matteas Derraugh at the 4:30 mark and the home team tied the score just 43 seconds later on the first of two tallies on the night from junior forward
Griffen Sanom.
Sanom's second of the game and fifth this season came just three minutes later and gave Lake Forest the lead for good.
The official game-winning goal was scored by junior forward
Jared Gerger at the 13:51 mark and chased the Lawrence goaltender. Sophomore forwards
Logan Kittleson and
Colin Bella added goals just 43 seconds apart late in the period to make the score 6-2.
A power play goal from the Vikings was the only score of the final period.
Sanom added an assist to his stat line for the evening, senior defenseman
Connor Scahill set up a pair of scores, and sophomore forward
Chase Freiermuth's had three assists on the night.
Junior goaltender
Kohl Reddy made 22 saves and earned his first victory since transferring to the College this year.
Lake Forest improved to 3-6-0 overall and 1-4-0 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play while Lawrence fell to 3-7-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the league.
The same two teams will face off again in Appleton, Wisconsin, Saturday night at 8:00.
