The Forester men's hockey team suffered a 6-1 loss to Trine University Friday night in the opener of the teams' weekend series.

Freshman forward Hayden Riva scored the home team's only goal at the 5:46 mark of the second period. He intercepted a pass while alone in the middle of the offensive zone and fired into the right side of the goal to tie the score at one.

The Thunder regained the lead at the 7:25 mark and took a 3-1 lead into the third after adding a power play goal with 2:11 on the clock.

Trine continued to pull away in the third, scoring the final three goals of the contest in a span of five-and-a-half minutes.

The loss dropped the Foresters' overall record on the season to 2-5-0 and Northern Collegiate Hockey Association mark to 2-3-0. Trine improved to 6-1-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the league.

The same two teams will face off again in Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse Saturday afternoon at 4:00.
