The Forester women's basketball team made the short trip to Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Wednesday but was defeated 79-42 by Carthage College.
Senior guard
Melissa Gomez led the visitors with a dozen points while fellow senior guard
Maurissa Edwards and junior guard
Emmy Punches added seven apiece. Gomez was also the team leader with seven rebounds and three assists while Edwards recorded four steals.
Lake Forest shot just 30 percent from the field while the Firebirds were at 45.6 percent. The home team also had a slight 38-36 edge in rebounds and the Foresters committed 34 of the game's 54 turnovers.
The Foresters' last lead of the night was 11-10 on a jumper by Gomez with 2:18 to play in the opening quarter. Carthage scored the final four points of the first and started the second with 10 in a row. The home team led 34-23 at halftime and 57-31 after three quartes of play.
Lake Forest is now 0-3 and Carthage 3-0 on the season.
The Foresters will host Marian University Saturday afternoon at 4:00.
