The Lake Forest College volleyball team traveled to Beloit College on Saturday and returned with a 25-19, 25-22, 25-14 victory.
Forester sophomore setter
Lilly Robinson tallied 15 assists on the afternoon while junior
Juli Barrientos added a dozen. Barrientos added a team-high 11 digs and Robinson served up an ace in each set. Junior libero
Lauren Volk was next on the squad in digs with 10.
Lake Forest senior
Grace Franz's nine kills led all players in the contest.
Trailing 11-10, Lake Forest took control of set one with a six-point run during Robinson's turn to serve. Beloit battled back to within two at 19-17 but a four-point run with Barrientos serving helped the Foresters finish off the set.
The visitors trailed by as many as eight points in the second and were behind 20-16 before a seven-point run with senior
Mary Gegen serving out them on top. A kill by junior
Riley Stapley closed it out.
Lake Forest won 15 of 19 points during one stretch in set three. The Buccaneers fought off three match points before an attack error ended any hopes of a dramatic comeback.
The Foresters' sixth consecutive triumph raised their overall record to 12-4 and Midwest Conference mark to 3-0. Beloit fell to 1-13 overall and 0-2 in the league.
Lake Forest will continue conference play at Ripon College Friday night at 7:00.
