Turnovers Cost Foresters at Ripon

The Lake Forest College football team suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday, a 12-0 decision at Ripon College.

The Foresters out-gained the Red Hawks 332-165 in the contest but turned the ball over six times.

The visitors' defense was led by defensive end and graduate student Justin Albee, who had 3.0 tackles for loss and a sack among his team-high-tying four tackles overall. Another graduate student, cornerback Dante Esposito, registered the only turnover forced by a Forester on his fourth quarter interception. Esposito has a team-high three interceptions this season and is now tied-for-fourth in program history with a dozen in his career.

The most productive offensive player for either team was Lake Forest wide receiver A.J. Jackson, who caught seven passes for 110 yards. The fifth-year player has now exceeded 100 receiving yards six times in his career.

Junior tight end Jake Kostoryz was next on the team with 43 yards on four receptions. The Foresters' leading rusher was junior Jayce Knudsen, who gained 30 yards on four carries.

The loss drops Lake Forest's overall record to 6-1 and Midwest Conference mark to 5-1. Ripon improved to 3-4 overall and evened its league mark at 3-3.

The Foresters will host Beloit College next Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
