Despite holding the lead twice during the game, the Lake Forest men's soccer team played to a tie against Kalamazoo College 2-2 at home on Sunday.

Freshman Karl Weisenfeld scored the first goal for Lake Forest as the clock read 29:00; it was his third goal of the season, making him the Foresters lead scorer. Junior forward Rayan Khalid had been in the game for less than a minute when he received a pass from junior Johnny Presberg in the box. Khalid kicked a short pass back up the field to Weisenfeld, who moved the ball a few steps closer to the goal and kicked it into the back of the net, making the score 1-0 in favor of the Foresters.

Lake Forest's lead was short-lived when the Hornets tied things up just three minutes later.

Late in the second half, the Foresters again took the lead. Senior Teddy Kolesnikov took a corner kick for the Foresters, which was headed towards the goal by freshman Mateus Lima; the shot went off the crossbar. Sophomore Eric Rodriguez was able to regain possession for Lake Forest, but his shot went right into the back of a Kalamazoo defender. Lima again got control of the ball, found a window, and was able to send the ball sailing into the back of the goal, putting the Foresters up 2-1.

However, Kalamazoo answered the Forester goal quickly and evened the score 2-2 just over five minutes later.

Senior goalkeeper Giuseppe Scalera made some spectacular saves when in goal for the Foresters in the second half and prevented the Hornets from taking the lead. He and sophomore Ace Prasad combined for eight saves on the day.

The Foresters play their next two games on the road with the first one being played at North Park University on Tuesday, September 20 at 7:00 p.m. This will be their last game before conference play begins.
