The Lake Forest College men's lacrosse team hosted and defeated Monmouth College 16-8 on Mohr Field on Thursday.

Forester sophomore John Casey and freshman Luke Bowers and Jack Langworthy each scored four goals and added an assist in the contest. Freshmen Trip Gaston and Bode Rubright added two scores apiece.

All five of the home team's goal scorers struck in the game's first 12 minutes and Lake Forest led 6-1 after the opening period.

Bowers completed his first career hat trick and Gaston netted his second score of the contest and 14th this season in the second. Monmouth also scored twice in the quarter and the score was 8-3 in favor of the Foresters at halftime.

The Fighting Scots scored four of the first five goals in the third to make the score 9-7. Two scores apiece from Langworthy and Casey in the period secured hat tricks for both players and helped restore Lake Forest's five-goal advantage going into the fourth.

After scoring the final three goals of the third quarter, the Foresters accounted for the first four in the fourth to put the game out of reach. Bowers reached 10 goals on the year, Langworthy 11, Rubright 12, and Casey a team-high 25.

Casey's 10 ground balls in the contest are the most by a Lake Forest player this season and freshman Conor Murphy was next on the team with six. Freshman Andrew Eisenman led the squad with five caused turnovers, one more than Casey.

The Foresters outshot their guests 61-35 on the day.

Lake Forest freshman goalie Ryan Caparrelli made eight saves to improve his record on the season to 2-1 and classmate John Niccoli added two more saves in the final 6:10.

The victory improved the Foresters' overall record to 4-6 and Midwest Lacrosse Conference mark to 2-1. Monmouth fell to 5-4 overall and 1-1 in the league.

Lake Forest will have just one day of rest before continuing league play at Monmouth College on Saturday. The game is set to begin at 4:00 p.m.
