Playing at home for the first time in more than two weeks, the Lake Forest College volleyball team was defeated 25-17, 25-19, 25-23 by Trinity International University Wednesday night.

Sophomore Mary Gegen continued to lead the Foresters in kills, pounding out 12 of the team's 22 on the evening. Junior Izzi Visnjevac led the squad with a dozen digs, senior Hannah Kobienia with three blocks, and freshman Juli Barrientos with nine assists and a pair of aces.

The home team won the first three points of the night but surrendered the next three. The opening set was tied five times, the last at 12-12, before the Trojans pulled away with an 8-1 run and eventually won 25-17.

Trinity International won the first four points of set two and led 9-2 before a six-point run by the Foresters pulled them to within one. The visitors' lead was a single point again at 10-9 and 17-16 and the margin was just two points at 21-19 before they rattled off four in a row to take the set.

After trailing by as many as seven points in the third set, the Foresters rallied and eventually tied the score at 22 and again at 23. The Trojans won the next two points, however, the close out the contest.

The loss dropped Lake Forest's record on the season to 4-9 while Trinity International improved to 9-7.

The Foresters will play twice at Benedictine University on Friday, taking on Elmhurst College at 5:00 p.m. and the hosts at 7:00.
