Cornell Deals Lake Forest First MWC Loss of the Season

The Forester volleyball team was defeated 25-11, 25-13, 25-13 by visiting Cornell College on Saturday, despite a dozen kills and three blocks by sophomore Brittany Avonts.

Avonts' 12 kills led all players in the match and two of her three blocks were solos. Her .529 hitting percentage on the day raised her season mark to .384 and career percentage to .360. Both rank first in team history.

Junior Brianne Honda led the home team with 12 digs and senior setter Torie Pasiewicz added 10, including the 1,000th of her career. She also finished with 16 assists.

Lake Forest fell to 11-12 overall and 5-1 in Midwest Conference play. The Rams raised their overall record to 17-6 and league mark to 8-0.

The Foresters will host a pair of matches next weekend, taking on St. Norbert College Friday night at 7:00 and Lawrence University at 1:00 the following afternoon.
