Foresters Sweep M.S.O.E. and Mount Mary

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

The Lake Forest College volleyball team posted three-set victories over host Milwaukee School of Engineering and Mount Mary College on Saturday. Forester senior Molly McCloskey tied the program record for kills in a three-set match with 21 against M.S.O.E.

McCloskey matched the mark set by Forester Athletic Hall of Fame member Anna Pannighetti in 1996.

Seniors Cori Cooper, Courtney Faulstick, and Megan Trubich were next on the team with nine, eight, and seven kills, respectively, in the 21-18, 21-19, 21-20 triumph. They each committed just one error for a combined .396 hitting percentage. Sophomore Torie Pasiewicz had 39 assists and 13 digs in the match and senior Tia Rupnik led the squad with 18 digs.

The Foresters triled 7-5 in the first set before taking the lead during a 10-3 run. The lead was 17-15 before the visitors closed out the set with an 8-3 run.

Another 10-3 Lake Forest run in the second set turned a 9-6 deficit into a 16-12 advantage. It was 17-15 again before the Foresters earned eight of the set's final 12 points.

The Raiders led by as many as four points twice in set three and the score was tied at 20 before a kill and ace by Faulstick, a pair of kills by McCloskey, and an attack error by the home team closed out the match.

M.S.O.E. fell to 1-9 on the season.

McCloskey led the Foresters with 10 kills and chipped in with a dozen digs in the team's 25-17, 25-17, 27-25 victory over Mount Mary. Cooper and Trubich added eight kills apiece. Rupnik tallied 23 digs and Pasiewicz added 16 to go with her 35 assists and two aces.

Lake Forest jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the first set and pulled away with an 8-1 run later in the set, which ended on an ace by McCloskey.

The Foresters led the second set 15-13 before outscoring the Blue Angels 10-4 and finishing off the set on a kill by freshman Bailey Everhart.

A kill by Faulstick completed the Foresters' come-from-behind win in set three.

Lake Forest is now 9-5 on the season while Mount Mary fell to 6-7.

The Foresters will begin Midwest Conference play next Wednesday when they host Beloit College at 7:00 p.m.
