Box Score The Forester men's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie at Lawrence University Sunday afternoon and is now 11-2-3 overall and 3-2-2 in Midwest Conference play this season. Lake Forest sophomore Alexi Spiratos scored the game-tying goal late in the second half.
Lake Forest out-shot the home team 6-3 in the opening period but the game was still scoreless at halftime.
Lawrence scored its only goal of the game against Forester freshman goalkeeper Ian Taylor at 62:57. Taylor made seven saves in the contest.
One day after scoring the winning goal at Ripon with 7:51 to play in the second half, Spiratos netted the official game-tying goal on Sunday with 7:47 remaining on the second half clock. The unassisted score was his third of the season.
The Foresters had a 12-4 edge in shots in the second half and a 19-10 advantage in the contest. Lake Forest also created 15 corner kick opportunities to the Vikings' three. Lawrence had the only corner kick chance in extra time and forced Taylor to make a pair of saves in the second overtime.
Lawrence is now 6-9-1 overall and 5-2-1 in league play with one game remaining. The Foresters, who have two conference games remaining, are currently fifth in the MWC standings with 11 points. Lawrence and Beloit College each have 16 points, Monmouth College has 17, and Carroll University 21.
Lake Forest needs to win both of its remaining games to have a chance to qualify for the four-team conference tournament. The first test will be at Knox College on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. The Foresters will then host Carroll at 2:30 Sunday afternoon.
