An early goal from
Nathan Kostovetsky couldn't propel the Foresters to victory on the West Coast.
The Foresters found early success offensively, with shots from
Rocky Rabago and
Gustavo Machado forcing a save out of the Lutes netminder. Pacific Lutheran responded to the pressure with two shots on goal, forcing Lake Forest goalkeeper
Andrew Swacha into his first two saves of the afternoon.
At the half-hour mark, the Foresters netted their first goal of the season as Kostovetsky found the left side of the net to give Lake Forest a 1-0 lead. Ten minutes later, PLU responded, sending the game to halftime tied 1-1.
The Lutes found another goal within the first 10 minutes of the second half, giving the home side a 2-1 lead. After a push forward on offense by the Foresters, PLU found a third in the 77th minute, and the game finished with the Lutes on top, 3-1.
The Foresters are in action again on Wednesday, September 9 against Benedictine University at Mohr Field. Kickoff against the Eagles is at 4:30 p.m.
