The Forester volleyball team went 1-3 at the UW-Oshkosh Pizza Hut Classic over the weekend. Sophomore libero Tia Rupnik was named to the all-tournament team after recording 86 digs in the four matches combined.

Lake Forest began the weekend with a 25-22, 26-24, 25-14 loss to University of Texas-Dallas, the nation's 20th-ranked team. Rupnik tallied 25 digs in the match and sophomore Molly McCloskey led the team with seven kills. Senior Mandi Mulliner had four blocks.

The Foresters' tough first day continued with a 25-16, 25-14, 25-11 loss to Oshkosh, the sixth-ranked team in the country. McCloskey's six kills led the visitors and Rupnik had 14 digs.

Elmhurst College, which defeated Oshkosh on Friday, was Lake Forest's first opponent on Saturday and the Foresters took the first set 25-20. The Bluejays won the second set 25-11 and the third 25-18 to take a two-sets-to-one lead. Lake Forest prevailed 25-18 in the fourth set and then eeked out a 15-13 triumph in the fifth to take the match. Sophomore Cori Cooper led the Foresters with 16 kills and McCloskey added 14. The team's two setters, senior Deena Blanchard and freshman Tori Cooper, each tallied 22 assists. Rupnik recorded another 25 digs and Mulliner added three blocks in the victory.

Lake Forest's final match of the weekend was a 25-23, 25-20, 25-16 loss to Lawrence University, leaving the Foresters with a 4-7 overall record this season. McCloskey had a team-high 11 kills and Cooper added nine. Blanchard finished with 16 assists and Rupnik had 22 digs.

In addition to Rupnik leading the Foresters in digs, McCloskey paced the squad with 38 kills, Blanchard had 61 assists, and Mulliner finished with nine blocks.

After playing 11 matches in the first 11 days of September, Lake Forest will have a couple of days off before traveling to Mount Mary College on Tuesday for a 7:00 p.m. contest. The team will then host North Central College at 10:00 a.m. and Benedictine University at 2:00 p.m. next Saturday.
