The Lake Forest College men's soccer team raised its overall
record on the year to 7-4-0 by defeating host Elmhurst College 2-1
Friday night. Junior Chris
Haught-Thompson started the scoring early in the second
half.
Elmhurst out-shot the Foresters 10-5 in the opening period but
the game was still scoreless until Haught-Thompson's corner
kick at the 47:24 mark went directly into the goal. It was his
second score of the season.
When Lake Forest freshman Jordan
Hartman netted his fourth goal of 2010 with just 17:17 to play,
it looked like the Foresters had clinched the victory. However,
Elmhurst out-shot the visitors 16-7 in the second half and finally
got on the scoreboard with 11:21 to play.
Forester senior goalkeeper Tom Biesiada
and the rest of the team's defense held the Bluejays scoreless the
rest of the way to preserve the win. Biesiada matched a career-high
with 10 saves - five in each half - and kept his goals against
average on the year at 0.99.
Lake Forest will play at Augustana College, another College
Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin school, next Thursday at
7:30 p.m.
