The Lake Forest College men's soccer team defeated visiting Illinois College 3-1 on Saturday to raise its overall record on the season to 11-6-0 and Midwest Conference mark to 4-4-0. Junior Stephen Egan had a goal and an assist for the home team.
Egan and sophomore Garrett Donnelly set up freshman Mahir Mameledzija on the game's first goal at the 19:21 mark of the opening period. It was Mameledzija's team-high 13th goal this year.
Forester freshman Alexi Spiratos then scored an unassisted goal at 25:17 to double the home team's lead. It was Spiratos' second goal of 2010.
The score remained 2-0 for the rest of the half.
The Blueboys pulled back to within a goal with 13:33 to play in the contest. Egan closed out the scoring with his third goal of the year with just 25 seconds remaining. Senior Jacob Heaps and freshman Jordan Hartman each recorded an assist on Egan's goal.
Lake Forest will finish up the season tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 against Monmouth College. A live video webcast of the contest will be available at www.pennatlantic.com.
