The Lake Forest College volleyball team fell 23-25, 25-19,
25-22, 25-23 at Marian University Wednesday night (September 2) in
the season opener for both teams.
Junior Mandi Mulliner (Elmhurst, Ill./York) and freshman Cori Cooper (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake Central) led the visitors
with 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Cooper also chipped in with 13
digs and four aces. Mulliner added four blocks.
Junior Deena Blanchard (Sparta, Mich./Sparta) finished with 25
assists and added two aces.
Lake Forest finished with 16 aces and were led in that category by
freshman Megan Trubich (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central) with
six. She also led the team with 14 digs.
In addition to Trubich and Cooper, freshman Molly McCloskey
(Riverside, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) and sophomore Theresa Converse (Warrentown, Va./Notre Dame Academy) also reached double
figures with 12 and 11 digs, respectively.
Lake Forest will be back on the road this weekend (September 4-5)
at the Elmhurst College Invitational. The Foresters will take on
Nebraska Wesleyan University Friday night at 6:00 and John Carroll
University at 8:00. The team will then face off against Trine
University at noon on Saturday and Illinois Wesleyan University at
2:00 p.m.
