The Forester men's soccer team held on for a 1-0 victory over
visiting St. Norbert College on Saturday (September 19). Lake
Forest is now 2-4-0 overall this season and evened its Midwest
Conference record at 1-1-0. The Green Knights, who came into the
game ranked 21st in the nation by the National Soccer Coaches
Association of America, fell to 5-1-0 overall and 0-1-0 in the
league.
The only goal of the contest was scored by Forester sophomore
Nelson Dorvlo (St. Louis, Mo./University City) 15 minutes and 50
seconds into the game. His first score of the season was assisted
by classmate Robbie Weis (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) and junior
Kahiye Hassan (Portland, Maine/Waynflete School).
After needing just one save in each half of Wednesday's 1-0 victory
at Concordia University Chicago, junior goalkeeper Tom Biesiada
(Grayslake, Ill./Grayslake Central) was forced to make nine saves
to keep the shutout intact against St. Norbert. He is now 2-0-0
with a .40 goals against average and .917 save percentage on the
season.
The Foresters will host Wisconsin Lutheran College Tuesday
(September 22) at 4:30 p.m. and travel to Benedictine University
the following night for a 7:00 contest. Both are non-conference
games. Lake Forest's next MWC game will be next Sunday (September
27) at home against Lawrence University, beginning at 3:30 p.m.
