The Forester men's soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss at Ripon
College Saturday (September 12) in the Midwest Conference opener
for both programs. Lake Forest fell to 0-4-0 overall on the season
while the Red Hawks raised their record to 1-2-1.
After a scoreless first half, the home team got on the scoreboard
just 5 minutes and 22 seconds into the second. A penalty kick at
61:49 doubled Ripon's lead and another goal with 12:03 left on the
clock put the game out of reach.
Forester sophomore goalkeeper Trevor Pontillo (Winthrop Harbor,
Ill./Zion Benton) recorded a season-high eight saves in the
contest, including five in the second half.
Lake Forest will play a non-conference match at Concordia
University Chicago Wednesday (September 16) evening at before
resuming league play against visiting St. Norbert College Saturday
(September 19) at 4:30 p.m.
