Sean Espinosa

After a year of playing professional basketball overseas, Sean Espinosa returned to his alma mater as an assistant coach in 2023.

After winning six of the last eight games of the season, Lake Forest tied for fifth place in the Midwest Conference with a 9-7 league record in 2023-24, Espinosa's first year on staff. The Foresters' scoring average of 79.2 points per game ranked second in the conference and third in program history. Alex Knight earned Second Team All-MWC honors and was one of seven players on the team to be named Academic All-MWC.

Espinosa is Lake Forest's all-time leader with 484 career assists and ranks third in team annals with 1,635 points, fourth with 153 steals, and sixth with 156 three-pointers. He helped the Foresters win the Midwest Conference Tournament and advance to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time in 2018-19 and earned the first of his three consecutive First Team All-MWC honors that season. Espinosa captained the squad and was named its Most Valuable Player twice. He also added Academic All-MWC and NABC Honors Court distinction his senior year.

After graduating from Lake Forest with a degree in communication, Espinosa continued his basketball career at the professional level in 2022-23 with Agde Basket, a club in France.

Espinosa is also a personal trainer and lives in nearby Arlington Heights, Illinois.
