Tom Myers is in his 23rd season on the Forester coaching staff and fifth working with the team's running backs. He directed the linebackers for two years before taking over the defensive line coaching duties in 2003 and moving to the other side of the ball to work with the wide receivers in 2018. Lake Forest has posted a 103-64 Midwest Conference record and claimed four league titles during his time at the College.
The Foresters posted an 8-1 record in Midwest Conference play in 2022, claiming a league title and advancing to the NCAA Division III Playoffs for the second year in a row. Under the direction of Myers, Damon.Bonds earned Second Team All-MWC honors and combioned with fellow running back Armani Brown to rush for 1,605 yards, 5.4 yards per carry, and 21 touchdowns. Both players finished among the top 10 in program history in rushing yards and touchdowns.
In 35 games under Myers’ direction, Forester running backs have amassed more than 5,700 yards from scrimmage and scored 60 touchdowns. Lake Forest has had an all-conference player at the position in all three full seasons during that span.
Myers has been the position coach for three MWC Defensive Players of the Year (linebacker Casey Urlacher in 2002 and defensive end David Bleitner in 2003 and 2004) and a total of 34 all-conference selections. During his time as defensive line coach the team had at least one all-conference seleection at the position in 12 consecutive seasons. He has coached three different Foresters to all-region honors and a pair to All-American distinction. Five of the top 10 career tackles for loss totals in program history, as well as the second-highest tackle and sack totals, were turned in by players he coached.
Prior to joining the Forester staff, Myers posted a 92-54 record in 14 years as the head coach at Lake Forest High School, guided the Scouts to eight Illinois High School Playoff appearances, and accumulated an 11-8 postseason record.
He was also a basketball coach at the high school from 1977-85 and coached the baseball team from 1979-2009.
Myers and his wife Carol live in Lake Forest and he is retired from teaching at the high school.
