In a game where the Foresters out-shot the Falcons 22-4, Lake Forest women's soccer took down Concordia University Wisconsin to begin the season with two victories in a row.
Lake Forest started the game the more active of the two sides, with an early shot from
Keighan Whitlock. Moments later,
Veronica Presberg found a look from distance that Concordia's goalkeeper reacted to and pushed away. The Foresters continued to dominate possession, and it paid off as a 19th-minute scramble in front of the Concordia net turned into an own goal for Lake Forest's first goal of the match.Â

Sara Swenson faced a quiet first half, claiming possession a few times for the visitors. The own goal for Concordia was the difference in the first 45 minutes as Lake Forest took a 1-0 lead into the break.Â
It was all Foresters after the break as Presberg and the offense continued to fire at the Concordia net. The Falcons did get their first shot on goal of the match, forcing a save out of
Maddie Geasey who stepped in net at halftime.Â
In the 60th minute, Lake Forest found Presberg in front again, but another stop by the Concordia goalkeeper kept the game at a one-goal advantage. The Foresters found a second goal off of a set piece, as a corner from
Maggie Balas bounced into the path of
Anna Diebold, who lifted it above the keeper and past the back line for a 2-0 lead in the 77th minute, which would be the last goal of the game.
The Foresters are on the road again Tuesday against Benedictine University before returning home Thursday to face Concordia University Chicago.
