The Midwest Conference announced the end-of-season award winners for softball on Saturday and six Foresters, including MWC Position Player of the Year
Kaia Mismash, were recognized.
The announcement was made at the completion of the 2026 MWC Softball Tournament, where Lake Forest finished as the runner-up.
Mismash led the league with a .491 batting average and 24 stolen bases in as many attempts during the 16-game MWC schedule. The junior shortstop had at least one hit in each game and also ranked tied-for-first in the conference with 26 hits, second with 37 total bases, third with a .534 on-base percentage, fourth with a 1.232 OPS, and tied-for-fourth with 15 runs. Mismash has now earned First Team All-MWC honors twice and Second Team accolades once in her three-year collegiate career.
Joining Mismash on the league's first team is Forester senior
Kyla Chevalier, who was an at-large selection. Chevalier saw action at first base and catcher this season and led the league by reaching base via a walk or hit by pitch 18 times during conference play. Her .527 on-base percentage ranked fifth in the MWC and she matched Mismash's 15 runs scored. The senior is now a four-time First Team All-MWC selection.
Four Foresters earned Second Team All-MWC honors this season, including senior third baseman
Cadence Dempsey for the fourth time. Dempsey batted .318 and tied for second in the league with three home runs. She also scored 13 runs, drove in a dozen, and added five stolen bases.
Sophomore center fielder
Vanessa Buske batted .367 in conference play with two doubles, two triples, two home runs, and a .767 slugging percentage. While she was recognized for her contributions as an outfielder, Buske was also 3-0 with a 2.27 earned run average as a pitcher against league foes.
Earning Second Team All-MWC accolades for the second year in a row was junior catcher
Paige Ratliff, who batted .432, slugged .682, and tied for second in the conference with 16 runs batted in and seventh with eight stolen bases.
Junior second baseman
Lia Taglia was listed among the league's best for the first time in her collegiate career. Taglia batted .483, posted a .531 on-base percentage, and was second in the conference with 18 stolen bases.
Lake Forest finished the 2026 season with an overall record of 24-14 and tied for second place in the MWC standings at 12-4 in league play.
The Foresters have had at least six players named First or Second Team All-MWC each of the last three seasons and Mismash is the program's third player to be named MWC Position Player of the Year in the last five seasons.
