The Lake Forest College men's lacrosse team was defeated 13-10 by Concordia University Wisconsin at home on Wednesday.
The game started out well for the Foresters, who had an early advantage after a goal from sophomore
Aidan Wigton. Classmate
Jackson Derosia scored for the sixth time this season and Wigton set up freshman
Milo Closson's 10th of the year to make it a 3-0 game with 3:38 to play in the first quarter.
Concordia Wisconsin netted the final goal of the opening period and the first goal of the second but Wigton struck again at the 10:43 mark to raise his team-high goal total to 18.
Unfortunately for the Foresters, the Falcons scored five in a row to take a 7-4 halftime lead and added two more tallies early in the third.
Lake Forest junior
Carson Pagel finally snapped the streak of Concordia Wisconsin goals with 9:36 to play in the third quarter. Freshman
Kyle Katzbek's second career goal came with 3:23 on the clock and Pagel's second of the day made the score 9-7 just 61 seconds later.
The visitors responded with the final score of the third and the first of the fourth to restore their four-goal cushion.
Back-to-back goals from Pagel made it a two-score game once again and he answered another Falcon goal with his career-high fifth of the day and ninth this season to pull the Foresters back to within two once again with 1:47 on the clock. The comeback bid ended there, however, and Concordia Wisconsin tacked on one more with 57 seconds left.
Junior
Liam Bradley led Lake Forest with a career-high seven ground balls and added a pair of caused turnovers on the day. Senior
Evan Heitner paced the team in the latter category with three.
Senior
Jacob Lipson made several saves on point blank shots from Concordia Wisconsin and finished with 14 in the contest.
The Foresters attempted 46 shots and the Falcons 41. Both teams picked up 34 ground balls and Lake Forest turned the ball over 20 times to Concordia Wisconsin's 17.
The loss evened the Foresters' overall record at 5-5 and dropped their Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference mark to 4-2. The Falcons, meanwhile, improved to 10-1 overall and 4-1 in the league.
Lake Forest will be in action again next Wednesday when the team hosts Benedictine University on Mohr Field at 4:00 p.m.
