Softball player Kaia Mismash and lacrosse player Liam Smith were named Forester Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.
Mismash stole nine bases, including a program record six in the opener, during the Foresters' 7-5 and 19-10 victories at Carthage College on Saturday. She was 3-for-4 at the plate in game one and 2-for-4 in game two while scoring three runs and driving in one in each contest. Mismash swiped second and third base following each of her three singles in the opener and stole second three times in game two. The junior shortstop was also perfect in eight chances in the field, recording three putouts and five assists on the day.
The previous school record for stolen bases in a game was five, which Mismash set last April just six days after tying the mark that existed before that with four. She has now stolen at least three bases in a game 10 times in her career while all other Foresters have combined for nine such performances.
Smith, who entered Saturday's 20-3 victory over Beloit College with one goal and one assist in his collegiate career, recorded his first career hat trick and assisted on six other goals on the day. The freshman attacker set up scores by six different teammates, including four who had not yet scored as Foresters and another who struck for the first time this season.
Smith's assist total matched the second-highest single-game mark in program history while his nine points on the day rank tied-for-ninth in team annals.
Tuesday's Forester Athlete of the Week award was the second for Mismash, who was also honored in 2024, and first for Smith.
