Lake Forest College men's basketball player
Alex Forowycz was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Monday after helping lead his team to a pair of victories on the road during the previous seven days.
Forowycz scored a game-high 29 points and added five assists and a couple of steals in Wednesday night's 98-92 overtime victory at Beloit, the senior wing was 10-for-14 from the field and knocked down three of five attempts from three-point range and six of seven free throws in the contest.
Lake Forest prevailed 87-79 at Illinois College on Saturday to clinch a spot in the four-team MWC Tournament. Forowycz once again led all players in scoring and made 10 of 14 field goal attempts. He was 5-for-8 from beyond the arc and 6-for-6 from the line in a 31-point performance and also chipped in with two assists and two blocked shots.
At 20.2 points per game, Forowycz is currently the league's second-leading scorer behind fellow Forester senior
Cristian Rodriguez. He is also the national leader in free throw percentage at 94.7 percent. After scoring 60 points last week, he ranks 11th in program history with 1,354 in his career.
MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors. Forowycz also earned the award in back-to-back weeks at the beginning of January.
