The men's events a the Chicagoland Indoor Championships at North Central College were conducted on Saturday and the Foresters set three program records at the meet.
The first school record was actually broken by two different members of the team. Freshman
Brayden Long's time of 7.14 seconds in heat two of the 60m was three-hundredths-of-a-second faster than the mark set by classmate
Christopher Yoon a week ago. Yoon then matched Long's time a few minutes later in heat seven.
Sophomore
Finn Gruver made his collegiate long jumping debut on Saturday and set the indoor school record with a leap of 6.77m (22' 2.5"). That was good for fifth place in the meet.
The third and final program record broken at the meet was the 800m time posted by junior
Ollie Francis. After originally setting the team's indoor record in the event last year, he improved it by nearly two-and-a-half seconds two weeks ago and then cut off another 1.35 seconds with Saturday's 1:55.23. He was the runner-up in the race by just .07 seconds.
In addition to the team records, there were several other performances of note for the Foresters. Yoon placed fourth in the 60m hurdle finals with a time of 8.64 seconds and also covered 6.38m in the long jump. Senior
Mason Wright improved his status as the third-fastest 200m runner in program history with a clocking of 23.54 seconds and Long now ranks fourth at 23.68, which matched Wright's career best before Saturday. Wright also climbed into the program's top five in the long jump at 6.08m.
Lake Forest will head to the University of Chicago next Saturday for the annual Margaret Bradley Invitational.
