The Lake Forest College men's hockey team dropped a 3-1 decision at Milwaukee School of Engineering Friday night.
The game started out well for the Foresters with sophomore defenseman
Jonah Copre netting his first career goal just 107 seconds into the contest. Senior forward
Justin Ross sent a pass from the boards behind the goal into the middle of the offensive zone while Copre came in from the blue line to meet it and fire a shot into the right side of the net.
Unfortunately for the visitors, that was all the scoring they could manage. MSOEÂ tied the game with 1:11 to play in the period and it was still 1-1 going into the third. The Raiders eventually took the lead at the 5:34 mark of the third period and tacked on an empty net goal with 1:09 on the clock.
The home team had a 29-24 edge in shots on the night. Forester freshman goaltender
Luke Szyszka took the loss, despite stopping 26 of the 28 shots on goal he faced.
Lake Forest fell to 5-17-2 overall and 5-11-1 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play this season. MSOE, meanwhile, improved to 10-11-3 overall and 7-7-3 in the league.
The same two teams will face off again in the Foresters' Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse Saturday night at 7:00. It will be the regular season finale both both programs and the Foresters will have either the #7 or #8 seed in the Harris Cup Playoffs, which begin next weekend, while the Raiders will be the #5 seed.
