Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | Steve Bourbon

Balanced Scoring Not Enough for Foresters

The Lake Forest women's basketball team fell short against Lawrence University on Tuesday night at the Sports and Recreation Center, losing 62-47.

Guard Jamie Springstead led Lake Forest in scoring with 13 points. The senior has been in double figures in six of last eight games.

Guard Anika Kinnear scored 10 points on 3-of-6 shooting, including making both of her attempts from behind the three-point line. Kinnear has scored at least 10 points five of her last seven games.

Mia deGrasse added eight points, collected a team-high four rebounds, and dished a team-high three assists. deGrasse was 2-for-3 from three-point range, and it was her first time making multiple triples in a game since earlier this season on Nov. 15, 2025, against Alma.

Lake Forest shot 33.3 percent from the field and made 6-of-19 three-pointers for the game. The Foresters were 7-of-10 from the free-throw line. Eight different Foresters scored.

The Foresters bookended the first quarter with highlights to start and finish the quarter. Lake Forest won the tip-off and moved the ball on its first possession until Springstead hit a three-pointer off an assist from deGrasse to open the game.

Lake Forst closed the opening quarter with an exclamation point, as deGrasse corralled an offensive rebound off a missed shot from Springstead and her putback layup off glass went in to beat the buzzer and give Lake Forest a boost at the end of the frame.

The Foresters leaned on their defense in the first half and kept the game close. Lake Forest held Lawrence without a made three-pointer for the entire first half and went into halftime trailing only 24-18, despite the Foresters shooting only 25.9 percent from the field before halftime.

In the second half, Lake Forest could not trim the deficit to single digits, as 15 second-half turnovers plagued their comeback efforts.

Lake Forest will prepare for its final home game of the season in its next contest, marking the last home game for seniors Jamie Springstead, Sara Mills, and Rylie Crecelius. The Foresters will honor the trio on Saturday at the Sports and Recreation Center, then match up with Grinnell College at 3 p.m.
