The Lake Forest College women's hockey team began the 2026-27 season Friday night with a 4-1 loss to visiting St. Catherine University.
The Wildcats started the scoring at the 2:57 mark of the opening period. The Foresters answered with 4:18 to play in the period on the first career goal for
Molly Mitchell. After taking a pass from
Alex Luke, Mitchell back-handed a shot over the stick of the St. Catherine goaltender to even the score.
Unfortunately for the home team, that was its only goal of the contest.Â
St. Catherine regained the lead with a minute lef tin the first. The Wildcats added one insurance goal in the second and another in the third to account for the final score.
Forester goaltender
Lily Peterfeso made several highlight reel saves and 36 overall on the night, including 14 in the final period.
The same two teams will face off again in Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
