On Saturday and for the second time in less than 24 hours, the Lake Forest College women's hockey team dropped a 4-1 decision to St. Catherine University in Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse.
Sophie Smith scored the Foresters' only goal at the 13:24 mark of the second period. Having positioned herself in front of the Wildcats' goal, Smith received a pass from between the circles from
Lily Anderson and redirected it past the goalie to make it a 2-1 game.
The score remained 2-1 for the rest of the period, despite the visitors putting 26 shots on goal in the middle 20 minutes of the game.
St. Catherine added a pair of insurance goals in the third, the first just 52 seconds in and the second on an empty net with 2:02 on the clock.
Lake Forest goaltender
Kayden Larson stopped 45 of the 48 shots on goal she faced for a save percentage of .938.
With Friday's season opener having the same result, the Foresters are 0-2 on the year and will travel to the College of Saint Benedict next weekend.
