Lake Forest College football football player Ethan Springer was named Midwest Conference Offensive Performer of the Week on Monday after helping lead the Foresters to a 57-3 victory over Luther College at home on Saturday.

Springer completed 24 of 30 passes for 408 yards and four touchdowns despite playing just the first three quarters of the contest. The junior connected with wide receiver Dom Esposito on scoring plays of 55 and 19 yards in the second quarter and 51 and 5 yards in the third. It was the third-highest single-game passing yardage total in program history and just the eighth time a Forester quarterback has completed at least 80 percent of his passes.

With at least four passing touchdown in all seven games, Springer leads the nation with 30 so far this year. He also ranks second in the country with 2,213 passing yards and a 233.8 passing efficiency rating, fourth with 16.89 yards per completion and 357.3 yards of total offense per game, and sixth with a 74.0 completion percentage.

Springer has now posted three of the top 10 single-game passing yardage totals in team history, as well as three of the top 10 completion percentages and passing efficiency ratings. He is on pace to shatter most of the single-season school records for quarterbacks.

MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors. Monday's selection was Springer's first this fall and third of his career.
