After outshooting Beloit 27-5, Lake Forest used three first-half goals to earn the program's 10th shutout of the season against the Buccaneers.
The Buccaneers had the first shot of the game, testing
Sara Swenson from the edge of the box 30 seconds into the match. The freshman made a save, and after that the Foresters took control. In the 8th minute,
Maggie Balas lifted in a corner kick that found the head of
Annabelle Schroeder, who gave Lake Forest a 1-0 lead with a finish in the bottom-tight corner. Eight minutes later,
Keighan Whitlock got on the scoresheet, picking up a deflected Balas pass and firing low into the bottom-left corner for 2-0.
The Foresters continued to press hard, pinning Beloit deep in its defensive half. The pressure paid off, as
Lola Halsband and
Veronica Presberg combined to set up
Naomi Norman in the 38th minute. The junior's first career goal came on the follow-up of her own shot, as she fought off defenders to score on the rebound.
Veronica Presberg fired on goal five minutes later, but the Buccaneers' goalkeeper stopped the shot from going in.
Beloit came out of the break with the first chance again, forcing
Maddie Geasey into a low save. Then,
Keighan Whitlock fired two shots that could not find the net. The two teams traded possession for the next five minutes before the Foresters controlled the run of play in the final 20 minutes. The Buccaneers managed two more shots on goal late, but Geasey saved both as Lake Forest cruised to a 3-0 victory.
The Foresters hit the road for the final time this regular season next Saturday with a trip to Ripon College. Lake Forest returns home to face Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Oct. 28.
