The Lake Forest women's basketball team could not overcome a slow start on the road Saturday afternoon against Grinnell College. The Foresters were defeated, 88-39.

Anika Kinnear led Lake Forest (2-16, 0-9 MWC) with 10 points and a game-high nine rebounds. The junior also recorded five steals, setting a new career high, and it was the most steals by any Lake Forest player in a single game this season.

Kinnear's performance on the defensive end was the highest number of steals by a Forester in a game since Taylor Major recorded five thefts against Lakeland University on Dec. 30, 2023.

Ella Franck and
Jamie Springstead added eight points apiece for the Foresters. Mia DeGrasse scored five points and added a pair of assists.

For the game, Lake Forest shot 29.8 percent from the field and made 5-of-7 free throws (71.4 percent). The Foresters could not find the range from behind the three-point line, as Lake Forest missed all 13 of its three-point attempts – the first time this season that Lake Forest has been held without a made three-pointer in a game.

Lake Forest trailed by 24 after the end of the first quarter and could not overcome the slow start to cut into the deficit from there.

The Foresters will return home for their next contest on Tuesday night. Â Lake Forest will take on Ripon College in another Midwest Conference game at the Sports and Recreation Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
